Ginger Moxibustion
There are many forms of ginger moxibustion and even more of moxibustion itself. However, moxibustion always has to do with elimination through fire. Like cupping, moxibustion pulls negative or disharmonious energies from the body, making space for fresh, oxygenated blood and prana (energetic life force) to flow into the area that was toxic and undernourished.
The ginger moxibustion practiced by Alexa is a formula created by the family of Dr. Lam Kong. The family has been practicing it for 10 generations, but have not recorded it in any book. Alexa learned this technique from acupuncturist Scott Miller, of the Healing Arts Alliance, who practices in Hilo, Hawaii.
This treatment is wonderful on any trauma, old or new, including sprains, bruises, broken bones, back pain, carpal tunnel, arthritis, menstrual pain, abdominal pain, impact injuries, pulled muscles, etc. It is an excellent treatment for any joint pain and it also works well clearing disharmonious energies in and around energy centers and chakras.
It is achieved using a balm made with Chinese Medicinal Herbs used to move blood and reduce inflammation, a large slice of warmed ginger, and, clamped on top, a cotton ball wrapped in balm which is set aflame.
After liberally applying the healing salve to the skin, Alexa moves the ginger along the skin, using a sponge clamp to keep the burning cotton ball in place. By watching and listening to the sound of the flame, Alexa is guided to where the most stagnation is, and allows the flame to pull it out, in turn giving relief to the original place of pain or giving mobility to a place that had restriction.
Clients often feel a sense of lightness, freedom, and energy in the area that was treated. Depending on the injury and situation this feeling can remain for some hours to days or weeks. Book here.
